Black Satin Farms ships day-old chicks every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to customers across the United States. All day-old chicks are shipped via U.S.P.S. 2-day Express. Your local U.S. Post Office will call you to pick your chicks up when they arrive.

What to know about Ordering and Shipping.
Is there a minimum order requirement to order baby chicks?

Yes, a minimum of five (5) chicks is required for the health and warmth of the day-old birds that we ship to all 48 contiguous United States.

Is there a maximum number of birds that may be ordered in one shipment?

Yes, twenty-five (25) day-old chicks is the maximum number of birds shipped to one location during one during a one-month period. Other orders of up to 25 birds may be shipped to the same address after 30 days of the previous order. The safety of the young day-old chicks in our shipping boxes requires that no more than 25 birds be shipped in one box to avoid overcrowding. Flock density and flock health are the reasons for no more than 25 birds being shipped to one farm from one hatching.

May orders be placed from other countries or outside the continental U.S. (48 contiguous states)?

No, we guarantee live delivery of all chicks & will not ship these special birds to any locations we cannot safely live up to this guarantee. Although some hatcheries will ship to other countries, but not guarantee live delivery, we choose to not unreasonably risk the life of our birds. Therefore, we will only ship within the 48 contiguous United States.

Additionally, we do not ship outside of the U.S. due to health regulations.

How do I report losses or other issues with an order?

Black Satin Farms offers a live animal & 24-hour livability guarantee. Contact our customer service by email at service@blackchickens.com or call (334) 836-9100 to report losses that occurred during shipping or loss of properly caged birds within 48 hours of arrival for a replacement or credit to your account. Reports must be made by email or by phone during normal business hours (8 am – 5 pm CST). Photo evidence of a lost bird may be requested by our customer service department. If your 48 hours lapse over the weekend or a holiday, please contact us on the next regular business day. Replacement orders must meet our minimum order requirements for safe shipping.

Is the cancellation of an order permitted, and if so, how might a cancellation be made?

Yes, an order placed for day-old chicks may be canceled. However, cancelations and changes to orders for baby chicks must be made by 12:00 pm CST on Friday before scheduled delivery. NO CANCELATIONS MAY BE MADE AFTER THAT TIME. Cancelations may be made by email at service@blackchickens.com, using our “Contact Us” form, or by calling our customer service department at (334) 836-9100.

Are there order restrictions in my state?

Please see below for poultry restrictions by state. WE RECOMMEND CHECKING YOUR LOCAL ORDINANCES OR WITH YOUR STATE WILDLIFE OR REGULATORY AGENCY BEFORE PLACING AN ORDER.

United States
Alaska – No shipping by our farm to Alaska.

Hawaii – No shipping by our farm to Hawaii.

Rhode Island – Minimum order of 12 chicks required per Rhode Island state law.

NO SHIPPING TO ANY FOREIGN COUNTRIES.

When will my chicks arrive?

When you order your chicks, during checkout, you will select a projected or desired hatch/ship date. We hatch chicks three days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). Your chicks will ship on these three days for the week you select and can take up to three (3) days to arrive at your post office. The post office will typically call you on the morning of delivery.

You will receive an email and/or text message with tracking information when your order has shipped. Please be aware that USPS tracking does not always show incremental updates between the origin and destination.

How will my chicks be shipped?

All day-old chicks are shipped via U.S.P.S Express Mail.

Can you ship outside of the U.S.?

No, Black Satin Farms will not ship to any location outside of the contiguous 48 United States.
